Thankfulness for the Lord’s Great Works

by on November 29, 2021

Key Scripture: Psalm 111 “Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!"

The Lord shows us His wondrous works with every breath we take and every star and sunrise we experience. His handiwork is all around us!! As we observe salvation in a new believer, we see His grace and righteousness displayed. As we read His Word, we praise Him for preserving it so that we can remember His wondrous works and His faithful covenant with His remnant people. We see His prominence through all He does. He shows us throughout history His power and guidance.

Through His works we see His greatness. His works and His Word will carry on until the end of the age. He calls His children to follow His
new covenant through believing in Jesus. This covenant through Jesus gives us hope for the future. This covenant continues to show the Lord’s excellence through His salvation.

Questions to Consider:

When was the last time you stood in awe of all the Lord has done? Which of God’s works shows you His greatness the most?

Prayer Prompts:

  • Pray that the Lord opens your eyes to His greatness He wants you to see.

  • Pray for those who have not accepted His greatness through salvation.
