SERVE
One of the greatest opportunities God gives Christians is to serve others by using the unique gifts He has entrusted to each of us. Here at Richland Creek, we offer many ways within our church ministries to help others. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us that our spiritual gifts are given for the common good of the body of Christ. We look forward to helping you find a place where God can use your willingness to be His hands and feet.
Additionally, because we love and desire to protect minors in our ministry, Richland Creek Community Church (RCCC) requires all staff members and volunteers working with minors or other vulnerable populations to complete THREE SAFETY STEPS before serving or training for a volunteer role.
Volunteer Onboarding
STEP ONE: Screening Process
Staff members and volunteers are required to complete the RCCC Screening Process, which includes:
1. Volunteer Application
• This is the beginning point for our process
2. Reference Checks
• Minimum of two referneces checks are requested for volunteers
3. Criminal Background Check
• All staff members and volunteers ages 18 years and older working with minors must undergo a criminal background check. Depending upon the ministry position, differing levels of criminal background checks may be required. Individuals who have committed sexually oriented or sex-related crimes may not serve in an area providing services to minors. In addition, certain other past criminal acts may preclude an applicant from serving minors. Background Checks will be re-run every three years.
4. Volunteer Interview with Ministry Leader
• You will meet with the pastor or director over the area of ministry you are applying for. They will discuss the volunteer ministry description for the role you are interested in and share any ministry specific policies that are pertinent to your role. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the opportunity of interest.
If your serving area involves serving with minors, all volunteers must be a member of RCCC or a verified active attender (50% or more attendance) for the past four months.
STEP TWO: Sexual Abuse Awareness Training
To equip you with the information necessary to recognize abuser characteristics and grooming behaviors, RCCC requires all individuals 16 years and older serving with minors to complete the MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training. Upon completion of training you will take a short quiz to for comprehension. This training must be renewed every three years.
STEP THREE: Policies and Procedures
Once individuals have completed the Volunteer Application, they are required to review and sign to comply with our Policies and Procedures for working with minors. These Policies must be reviewed and re-signed every three years.
